A Swedish tennis player brings her talents to Beaumont.
BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University women’s tennis received their first gift on Christmas Eve as Anna Emma Shasteen (Floda, Sweden) signed a national letter of intent to play tennis and continue her education with the cardinals.
“Anna is a game-changer,” LU head coach David Wong said. âShe has the capacity to help us win now and for the next four years. This is how much she can help us. I am extremely excited to have her on board and to see her continued growth as a player and as an individual.
Already competing internationally, Shasteen was chosen to represent Sweden at the European Championships in Moscow, Russia, and the Summer Cups in Great Britain. One of the best Swedish players, Shasteen rose to number one in the Swedish national rankings and played for the Royal Tennis Club in Stockholm.
Shasteen’s awards coat comprising titles from four major tournaments in Sweden, including Swedish championship titles in singles and doubles, Salk Open, SEB Next Generation and Bastad Corem Open. Shasteen has also recently represented GLTK in the top division for club matches.
