Teresa Gallavan Named Acting City Manager of Palm Springs
Palm Springs has named Teresa Gallavan as interim city manager.
The decision was announced at city council on Thursday. Gallavan is currently the Deputy City Manager of Palm Springs.
Gallavan joined the city of Palm Springs in November 2021. She is the former city manager of Selma, Calif., a farming community near Fresno that has a population of just under 25,000. She held the position for three years, stepping down in May 2021.
Prior to Selma, Gallavan served twice as Acting City Manager of Lompoc, Calif., from January 2018 to July 2018 and from October 2013 to January 2014. She also served as Economic Development Director/Deputy City Manager of Lompoc from 2011 to 2018.
Gallavan also worked for the Riverside County Economic Development Agency for 15 years. The last seven of those years as head of marketing and cultural services for the agency, overseeing marketing, the Riverside County Library System, and the Edward-Dean Museum and Gardens.
Gallavan holds an MBA from California State University, San Bernardino and a BA in Spanish from the University of California, Irvine.
Gallavan will succeed Justin Clifton, who announced his resignation last week. Clifton, who joined City in April 2021, said he would move into the private sector.
Clifton’s last day is September 16.
