An interesting development.

Wolves full-back Jack Scott is set to join FAI Cup holders St. Patrick’s Athletic on loan ahead of the 2022 League of Ireland season, according to reports.

Athletic report that Scott, a right-back, is set to join Saints after impressing through the Premier League club’s ranks.

Should he join the club, Scott would join former Wolves academy player Anto Breslin to join the club ahead of the 2022 campaign at Richmond Park.

St Patrick’s Athletic are about to nab Jack Scott.

A native of Northern Ireland, Scott signed his first professional contract with Wolves in 2019, signing a four-year deal at the club.

Also a Northern Ireland Under-21 international, Scott impressed at Molineux but has so far been unable to make it to Premier League first-team level.

But he joins a St Patrick’s Athletic side heading into the 2022 campaign as reigning cup holders and has European football to look forward to.

After finishing second in the standings behind Shamrock Rovers, the Inchicore team qualified for the Europa Conference for the first time.

It will also be their first return to Europe since 2019, where they were well beaten by Swedish side IFK Norrkoping in two legs in the Europa League.

Jack Scott.

Right-back Scott is likely to slot into a Saints side that will be looking to impress under new boss Tim Clancy.

Clancy, who succeeds Stephen O’Donnell, was previously in charge of Drogheda United and led them to top flight survival in 2021.

St Patrick’s Athletic begin their 2022 Championship campaign with an opening day clash against Shelbourne’s Damien Duff at Tolka Park.
