Volvo recently held its Innovation Award 2021, for award-winning companies for their innovative energy and fleet management solutions and last mile connectivity solutions that aim to uberize same-day delivery to the assistance from a fleet of electric vehicles.

Tech Mahindra received the Volvo India Innovation Award 2021 for its innovative energy and fleet management solutions for the Indian market. The award, awarded by a distinguished jury, was presented at the Volvo India Innovation Summit held in Bengaluru on November 10, 2021. Zypp Electric also presented the Volvo India Innovation Award in the SME category for its connectivity solutions from last mile that aim to uberize same day delivery with EV Fleet. In addition, the Department of Urban Land Transport, Karnataka, was honored with special recognition for its Quality of Life Improvement (QoL) project.

Smart energy management can play a key role in reducing the CO2 footprint in the country. Tech Mahindra’s eNetra is a thrifty, non-intrusive IoT device that offers the ability to turn millions of ordinary energy meters around the country into smart, smart meters, without replacing them. It connects regular meters to the Internet, captures consumption metrics and sends data to the cloud.

Tech Mahindra also showcased the ability to make more use of information and data connectivity with their open source and integrated fleet management system – Vetturino. Scalable and flexible, it promises new opportunities to make fleet operations safer and more efficient across a single vehicle, a convoy or all fleet operations.

Zypp Electric’s last mile connectivity solution aims to uberize same-day delivery in the B2B segment, and also promotes aspects of sustainability. It deploys two and three electric wheels as well as charging solutions; is socially inclusive, offers potential employment to low-income groups; deliver higher levels of usage through AI, machine learning and IoT tools, creating an optimized and cost-effective last mile solution.

He added, “Clearly, innovation through co-creation is the way forward to accelerate the meaningful adoption and use of these technologies for the common good and a sustainable future. This is indeed our inspiration behind the Volvo India Innovation Award. We believe this will help shine a light and encourage a culture of innovation in the country, which in turn will inspire us all to develop solutions for our collective future.

The Department of Urban Land Transport [DULT], Government of Karnataka, was honored with special recognition for its initiative to transform Church Street in Bengaluru into a testing ground for future solutions in pedestrianization, clean air and electric micro-mobility. The initiative attracted 14 start-ups to test their products and also became a platform for artists and performers to connect with their audiences.
