The actor says that the Hindi film industry, just like Hollywood, has opened its arms to people of different ethnicities; it also opens with her latest Swedish short film which won her the award for best actress.
Actress Elli AvrRam, who came to India from Sweden years ago, believes the Hindi film industry has now opened its arms to actors from multiple ethnicities and cultures. She tells us, âI think it’s getting like Hollywood. People of so many nationalities are working in our films today. Bollywood is huge and the inclusiveness made it even bigger. I think it’s a nice gesture because I always think it’s not about where you come from, but your talent and how you make the audience believe in the character you play.
AvrRam, which is also open to international content, was recently seen in a Swedish short, With You, which just turned 13 its debut feature in Swedish. So what prompted her to do it? âThis opportunity came to me a few years ago when I felt I wanted to play in my mother tongue. I’ve always been a die-hard Bollywood fan, but I decided to do something different, âshe says.
What makes this project special for the actor is the positive message it conveys about mental health: âI really wanted to be a part of something that could help us shine a light. We were happy because the anti-suicide organizations came to see the film’s premiere in Sweden. It made us very emotional.
AvrRam’s performance in the project won her the Best Actress award at the Stockholm City Film Festival. âIt shocked me,â she laughs. Ask her about the importance of awards to her, and The Verdict – State vs Nanavati actor says, âThe one I won for this movie is, of course, special because nobody knows me in Sweden. know that they awarded me the prize based on my performance and not because of a relationship i share with anyone, it motivated me to work in more swedish projects.
